These one-off costs are commonly covered by non-recurring engineering charges, or NREs.
Until 31 August 2026, Active-PCB Solutions is offering free or reduced NREs on qualifying new PCB assembly projects, helping customers reduce the initial cost of moving a new assembly into production.
What Are NREs?
NREs cover the engineering and production setup which are required before a new assembly can be manufactured efficiently and consistently.
Depending on the project, this can include reviewing manufacturing data, preparing work instructions, programming production and inspection equipment, creating tooling, developing test procedures and completing other project-specific setup work.
These activities are important, particularly for complex or high-reliability assemblies, but they can add to the initial cost of introducing a new product or transferring an existing build to a new manufacturing partner.
Supporting New Products and Supplier Transfers
Our summer offer is designed to support businesses that are developing a new product, moving from prototype into production, transferring work from another supplier or reviewing their UK manufacturing strategy.
By reducing or removing qualifying NRE charges, we can help lower the initial barrier to starting a new project while ensuring the necessary engineering and production preparation is still completed.
