in-house conformal coating

Active-PCB Solutions Reaches 3,000 PCB Assemblies Coated

Active-PCB Solutions has reached a significant milestone after coating its 3,000th PCB assembly since launching its dedicated in-house conformal coating facility earlier this year.

The Reading-based electronics manufacturer introduced the capability in February as part of its ongoing investment in providing a comprehensive electronics manufacturing service. Just a few months later, conformal coating has become an established part of day-to-day production, supporting customers across a variety of industries.

Conformal coating provides a protective barrier that helps shield electronic assemblies from moisture, dust, chemicals, condensation and other environmental factors that can impact long-term reliability. Demand for the process continues to grow as customers seek to improve product performance in increasingly challenging operating environments.

Active-PCB Solutions offers both advanced nano-coating technology and more traditional conformal coating options, enabling customers to select the most appropriate level of protection for their application, operating environment and production requirements.

The decision to bring conformal coating in-house has enabled Active-PCB Solutions to offer customers shorter lead times, greater flexibility and enhanced process control, while integrating coating seamlessly into existing assembly, testing and inspection operations.

David Riddle, Chief Commercial Officer at Active-PCB Solutions, commented:

“Reaching 3,000 coated boards in such a short period demonstrates the value customers see in having conformal coating available as part of a complete manufacturing solution. What began as a new capability has quickly become part of our everyday production activity, helping customers improve product reliability while benefiting from a streamlined manufacturing process.”

The conformal coating facility forms part of Active-PCB Solutions’ wider commitment to investing in UK electronics manufacturing and expanding the range of services available to customers under one roof.
