Test Technician

Job Purpose: To test printed circuit boards according to test specifications.

Reporting To: Test Department Team Leader.

About the Role: The chosen candidate will provide essential support to the Test Department by assisting with all major testing procedures. It will be a requirement of the role to help the team significantly boost the overall productivity of the department. The role has great potential to grow into a Test Engineer, in time, under the right circumstances.

Duties:

  1. Participate in daily team briefs lead by the Department Supervisor to receive a work schedule and priority list for the department.
  2. Test printed circuit boards according to test specifications.
  3. Manage and resolve test queries with the assistance of the Department Supervisor.
  4. Monitor build quality and resolve quality issues as they arise, with the assistance of the Department Supervisor.
  5. Monitor test department efficiency and offer suggestions for improvement to the Department Supervisor, as required.
  6. Attend training and develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
  7. Adhere to health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipment.

  • Able to work effectively to deadlines, completing allocated testing within the specified time frame.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time on repetitive tasks.

Desirable
  • Understand component identification codes such as resistors, capacitors and ICs.
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOM).

Experience
  • Previous assembly experience to IPC-A-610 class 2 minimum and AS9100 desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of working within a test department in a similar Contract Electronic Manufacturing environment desirable.

Qualifications
Essential

  • GCSE (or equivalent) at grade C or above in Maths, English and Science
Desirable
  • HND / HNC in electronics desirable but not essential.
